My fiction relaxation book of the month for November 2008 is The Beach House by James Patterson and Peter De Jonge. This thriller is about Jack Mullen, a law student who lives in New York City, and his quest to discover what really happened to his younger brother Peter. Peter's body was found on a beach near East Hampton and the police believes it was simply an accident. As he uncovers parts of Peter's life, he starts his crusade against powerful and ruthless American men who seem to control everything: justice, order, law, and everything upon which society is based. Will he manage to uncover the truth or will they get to him like they got to his brother? This is a riveting book, just like most of Patterson's work. |
The descriptions can be a little lengthy at times, but they serve a purpose. I highly recommend this book, and I enjoyed its slightly predictable but fair ending as it opens up a whole new world of possibilities for us all.
My non-fiction relaxation book of the month for November 2008 is JavaScript: The Missing Manual by David Sawyer McFarland. If you're like many people out there, you're thinking about creating your own website. Websites can bring in a little extra cash every month or they can be a great way for you to share your passion with the world. There are many useful tools out there to help you build your site, such as this excellent way to take your passion and make a website with Site Build It! or you can learn HTML, JavaScript and other programming languages on your own. This reference book is extremely useful if you choose to insert some JavaScript codes into your website. I had to go through five books before I came across this one. Other JavaScript books included lots of information but didn't present it in a useful way. |
This "missing manual" tells you the codes you need to use for specific functions and you can download the codes from the Internet and adjust them to meet your needs.
