Relaxation Book of the Month
December 2007

Here are my December 2007 recommendations for Relaxation Book of the Month. Go ahead and sit down with these great books. They will give you wonderful ideas for your holiday feasts and will take you to a fictional world where women of different backgrounds and cultures come together.

If you disagree with my selections or want to add your comments, feel free to use the form provided at the bottom of this page. I will personally review your comments and include them on this page for others to see. Of course, I only publish comments relevant to the books that I recommend but if you have a suggestion for a book of month, let me know and I'll start reading right away.

Fiction Relaxation Book of the Month

My relaxation book of the month for December 2007 is The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd. This great story takes place in South Carolina in 1964. A young caucasian girl, Lily Owens, lives with her father who does not show many emotions other than anger and frustration. After her mother's death, Lily was raised by her nanny, Rosaleen, a black woman who was previously employed on her father's peach farm.

Stories of bees are intertwined with Lily's life as her and her nanny suddenly become outlaws while Lily tries to solve the many unanswered questions surrounding her mother's death. It's a tale of love, respect and womanhood that can have a lot to teach most of us... We only need to let the inspirational words of Sue Monk Kidd reach our heart.

Non-Fiction Book of the Month

My non-fiction relaxation book of the month for December 2007 is Martha Stewart's Baking Handbook. While some of us may still harbour negative feelings towards this queen of the housewives who spent some time in jail, I like her style and her food.

This baking handbook is a must have for those of us who are getting ready for the holidays. From basic tips, equipment and techniques to fancy cakes and other dessert recipes, the book has it all. Martha teaches you how to bake the greatest treats on earth. My tastebuds are excited just writing about it...
