You may or may not agree with these book recommendations but they should entertain you. Here are the non-fiction and fiction books that I recommend for the month of December 2008. Fiction Relaxation Book of the Month | My fiction relaxation book of the month for December 2008 is The Song of Silver Frond by Catherine Lim. The author is based in Singapore and wrote an extraordinary tale based on her grandmother: Silver Frond. You should take your time when reading this poetic story set in the Sim Bak village in 1945.
The author uses the right words to trigger the reader's imagination. The story description is slow and poetic. Discover and relive the struggles of this odd couple and their love story. |
Non-Fiction Relaxation Book of the Month | My non-fiction relaxation book of the month for December 2008 is I Am America and So Can You by Stephen Colbert. If you like to be entertained and if you like satirical humour, then this book will delight you. Every chapter covers a different subject, but always with the ultra-right wing Republican perspective.
If you like Stephen Colbert's late night show or his Christmas special, then the book will surely please you. It's best to read it in small doses and it is particularly useful if you're having a bad day. Nothing like his sense of humour to put a smile on your face! |
