If, like me, you have been on and off diets for years, my non-fiction book of the month will probably be useful. It certainly helped me pick what I needed to do to finally lose my holiday weight. The fiction book recommended this month will appeal to those who like thrillers set in contemporary times.
Whether you agree or disagree with my reviews, I'd love to hear what you think. You can use the book review form below to send me your comments.
My fiction recommendation for March 2010 is The Murderers' Club by Australian author P. D. Martin.
The protagonist of the story, FBI profiler Sophie Anderson, is taking time off work after a case nearly cost her life six months ago. Because her family is in Australia and is not aware of the nightmare she went through, she decides to go to Arizona to visit a detective friend.
But the short holiday she was planning on enjoying turns into work as bodies start to appear, each with the signature of a different serial killer.
The book is fairly long, as the story takes multiple twists and turns and several victims and killers are involved, but it's a page-turner! The protagonist is very likeable and the police detail is highly believable.
I highly recommend this thrilling novel.
My non-fiction book for March 2010 is The Diet Selector: From Atkins to The Zone, More Than 50 Ways to Help You Find the Best Diet for You by Judith C. Rodriguez.
There are many diets out there, some are fads, some have been around for centuries. While the good old advice to exercise and eat less remains valid, it's sometimes helpful to follow a diet that tells us what to eat, how much of it, and when.
Wouldn't it be nice to finally be able to compare all your options before selecting a particular diet that will affect you and those around you (if you share meals)? Well... you can with this book.
Sample menus are shown for most of the diets and a symbol is used to indicate how it compares to other diets in terms of:
Highly recommend for those of you who, like me, need to compare various diets and pick the one that (we hope) will finally work!
