This month's fiction book of the month recommendation was written by the best-selling author who gave us The Christmas Box. This latest book is a wonderful romantic novel set in Peru.
You'll also see a recipe book suggestion for those who like to cook. Whether you agree or disagree with my reviews, I'd love to hear what you think. You can use the book review form below to send me your comments.
My fiction recommendation for June 2010 is The Sunflower
by Richard Paul Evans.
Christine Hollister got her heart broken when her fiancé cancelled their wedding a few days before the ceremony. What better way to get on with her life than go away to help those less fortunate in Peru? At least, that's what her mother and best friend Jessica decided.
When Jessica and Christine arrive in Peru to meet the children who were rescued from the streets, their lives take a new direction. Jim, the handsome tour guide, and Dr. Paul Cook, the American who runs the orphanage, are about to capture their hearts while they learn about real life in an environment filled with crocodiles, spiders, mosquitoes, vipers and jaguars.
It's a story about love, selflessness and hope. The story is well written and you will want to keep reading until you reach the last page. Highly recommended.
My non-fiction book for June 2010 is Cook Great Food: 450 Delicious Recipes by the Dietitians of Canada.
I've been using this book for many years and it never disappoints. The recipes are easy to make and use common ingredients that are likely stocked in your pantry. While not all recipes are illustrated, some pictures are inserted throughout the book.
This book was written by dietitians and contains lots of tips on how to eat healthier. Whether you are trying to lose weight, improve your health or simply stay healthy, these recipes will certainly come handy.
