This month's non-fiction book of the month recommendation follows last month's recommendation. After carefully reviewing the pros and cons of each diet, I selected WeightWatchers, but without the weekly meetings. This is why I am recommending a Weight Watchers recipe book that I have been thoroughly enjoying for the last 4 weeks.
You'll also see a book suggestion for those who are looking for a light mystery with funny twists of phrases. Whether you agree or disagree with my reviews, I'd love to hear what you think. You can use the book review form below to send me your comments.
My fiction recommendation for April 2010 is Her Royal Spyness (A Royal Spyness Mystery) by Rhys Bowen.
The protagonist of this light-hearted mystery is Lady Georgiana, the 34th royal member in line to become the Queen of England. The novel is set in the 1930s at a time where Lady Georgiana's family can't afford to give her an allowance. To make things worse, because she is a distant cousin of Her Majesty, her title prevents her from working like a regular person (or at least be recognized while working).
The Queen herself enlists Lady Georgiana on a confidential spying assignment but the latter soon realizes that there is a more pressing mystery that needs to be solved or else her half-brother will be found guilty of murder.
The book contains many funny remarks from the main character that will at least put a smile on your face if not make you laugh out loud. It's well written and easy to read.
My non-fiction book for April 2010 is Weight Watchers New Complete Cookbook Momentum Program Edition
published by Wiley Publishing, Inc.
I simply LOVE this recipe book. I make a point to sit down with it before going grocery shopping and I plan all my meals for the week. Each recipe tells you how many servings it makes, and how many points each serving is worth. It also contains tips on how to turn many recipes into a "Simply Filling" technique as well as where to get ingredients you may or may not be familiar with.
I have tried many recipes and each one was a great success! I also lost 6 lbs in 4 weeks while feeling full everyday.
The only negative comment I would make is that the units may not always be the ones you are used to, so you may need to know that 16 ounces is equivalent to one pound or 454 grams.
I highly recommend this recipe book for those who enjoy cooking and those who are looking for healthy recipes to either lose weight or maintain their weight.
