Relaxation-at-Home #55 - More Relaxation Tips for Spring - 5-Minute Stress Busters
April 15, 2012
Hi,

Caroline here with more relaxation tips for spring.

Spring is the ideal season to implement changes in your life. Whether it's a new wardrobe, a new life partner, a change in your career or a move to a new location, this season offers plenty of opportunities for self-renewal.

This month, our newsletter will cover the following:

  • health benefits associated with drinking Wu Yi Tea;
  • ideas for 5-minute stress relief sessions;
  • a free iPhone app for relaxation; and
  • a guided meditation CD collection for beginners.

Tea for Health

With spring often comes the desire to shed extra pounds, so I recommend drinking Wu Yi Tea, a type of oolong tea from the Chinese Fujian province. A study concluded that oolong tea increases energy expenditure, which is a great way to lose weight. Read more about Wu Yi tea and this weight-loss study.

Tea contains less caffeine than coffee and can help reduce the risks of certain cancers, heart disease, viral infections and more. Read more about the health effects of tea.

5-Minute Stress Relief

Feeling stressed and not enough time to practice your regular relaxation activities? Try these 5-minute stress busters.

Free iPhone App for Stress Relief

I recently discovered this free iPhone app: Breathe2Relax by The National Center for Telehealth and Technology.

http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/breathe2relax/id425720246?mt=8

It's a great way to practice deeper breathing with beautiful background images, audio instructions and visual representation of air leaving and entering your lungs.

Did I mention it's free?

Book of the Month

I recently came across a wonderful audio book for meditation. These guided meditation sessions are perfect for beginners who want to learn how to meditate. The audio book also offers interesting information related to how our brains work and how meditation can change our brains for the better.
